Cinema as a pedagogical ally: 7Speaking partners with Paname Distribution

Convinced that successful learning comes through engagement and enjoyment, 7Speaking is enhancing its method by incorporating exclusive film trailers and clips as new language learning materials. This initiative, complementary to the “news-based lessons” already offered in partnership with Euronews, strengthens language skills whilst offering learners cultural enrichment.

From March 2025, learners will be able to perfect their vocabulary and listening comprehension through carefully selected cinematic content. To stimulate engagement and recognise effort, each film will be accompanied by a competition offering cinema tickets to participants who complete the associated educational activities.

The partnership launches with “Vermiglio, or the Mountain Bride”, Grand Jury Prize winner at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, marking the first milestone in a series of unique learning experiences aimed at transforming learners whilst inspiring them.

“This partnership with Paname Distribution embodies our belief that language learning should be anchored in authentic cultural experiences. By integrating arthouse film excerpts into our platform, we offer our learners more effective and engaging language immersion. The regular challenges around this content, coupled with the opportunity to see these films in cinemas and then discuss them on our social feed, create a learning continuum between virtual and real that truly stimulates conversation and language practice”, says Julie Vignaux, CEO of 7Speaking.

“We are delighted with this collaboration, which allows us to showcase our catalogue of independent films to a motivated and curious audience. Having our films become language learning materials adds an extra dimension to our mission – that of disseminating stories that broaden cultural horizons. This is how cinema fully fulfils its purpose: being simultaneously an art form, a vehicle for discovery and now a learning tool”, adds Laurence Gachet, President of Paname Distribution.
